Two-day visit on the east slopes of Dercum Mountain (11640ft) in Keystone - Colorado. Green trails good for beginners and less experienced skiers in the Rocky Mountains. Good enough for rusty amateurs not only from Midwestern lowlands. Mid-February 2017 welcomed us with amazing weather on the trails (33F) but it was not enough time to get used to the high elevation. We experienced some altitude sickness (AMS) caused by acute exposure to low partial pressure of oxygen at high altitude. With all day skiing, it extended throughout the whole stay. This is the most frequent type of altitude sickness so, lesson learned. Need an extra day or two to get used to the high elevation of 9,173′ and higher on the mountain. Great times. Definitely worth it.
